Role in Project

SABIO will be involved in the quality evaluation control of the PHBV obtained from SOWISE+ and the recovered cellulose. The PHBV will be blended with other biopolymers and cellulose through a melt-mix extrusion process to produce batches of soil-biodegradable materials, characterized for their mechanical, physical and thermal properties. The best formulations will then be produced at a larger scale to realize soil-biodegradable tree guards, tested in real agricultural conditions.

Organization Description

SABIOMATERIALS develops and manufactures bio-based and biodegradable materials (bioplastics) for a wide range of sustainable applications, including durable, high-performance articles, compostable packaging, and biodegradable products for agricultural and aquaculture applications. Materials are produced using co-rotating twin-screw extrusion technology, both at pilot scale and on industrial production lines, with quality control carried out in the company's own laboratory.
